Friday was a big day for the Georgia football program. They found out that they had the most selections in the entire conference on the three preseason All-SEC teams while also learning when their annual homecoming game will be this season.
But the most exciting news of all came courtesy of some fast moving Vegas odds. Georgia wasn't getting the respect they deserved in the SEC Championship odds all offseason, but Vegas changed their mind, shuffled things around, and now are big fans of the Bulldogs.
Georgia's SEC Championship odds are moving fast
All offseason Vegas has favored Texas to win the SEC over Georgia. Their odds were always close, but for the third year in a row the sportsbooks were siding with the Longhorns.
That however changed on Friday immediately after the media voted Georgia as the favorite to win the league. Right after this happened Vegas changed their odds and Georgia surged to the top with +290 odds, according to FanDuel Sportsbook. Texas on the other hand dropped like a rock in a lake all the way to +330.
Odds adjust periodically and are subject to change.
At the end of the day it doesn't really matter what Vegas thinks of Georgia, but it is still nice to finally see them get the respect they deserve.
12 Bulldogs made the preseason All-SEC teams, but one obvious choice was snubbed
The media also released their three preseason All-SEC teams on Friday, and Georgia led the way with 12 selections. They however should've had a 13th selection as kicker Peyton Woodring wasn't included.
Last season Woodring converted 17 of his 19 field goal attempts while being perfect in PATs. This led to him being named to the All-SEC second team by the media and coaches at the end of last season. Now he is back for his senior season at Georgia and was somehow not included on the first, second or third team.
This is a big mistake and something that should motivate Woodring all season, but just like Georgia's SEC Championship odds it really doesn't matter all that much what anyone else thinks.
Georgia's 2026 homecoming game is as good as it gets
Georgia announced on Friday that their annual homecoming game will take place on Oct. 3 when the Bulldogs welcome Vanderbilt to Athens.
Homecoming is always a big deal in Athens, and that will especially be the case this year because the Commodores have been a much better program over the last two years. But this game will be even bigger because former five-star quarterback commit Jared Curtis will be playing against Georgia for the first time in his career.
Curtis flipped to Vanderbilt last year just days before signing day. This obviously left a sour taste in Georgia's mouth, and now all they want is revenge. They will get that chance for revenge this season, as long as he wins the starting the job, and to make that revenge even sweeter they have the opportunity to get it during homecoming.
