Donte Wright is a five-star defensive back who has been committed to Georgia since last summer. He wasn't always a five-star recruit, but Kirby Smart and his staff identified the talent he possesses, earned his commitment, and then sat back and watched him shoot up the rankings.
Wright's climb up the recruiting rankings continued on Monday as he shot up to No. 14 in Rivals' rankings which earned his coveted fifth star. That typically is something Georgia should celebrate, but in this case it is very difficult to even care that much about it.
Why? Because he is on the verge of flipping to Oregon.

5-star Donte Wright's climb continues as he gets closer to flipping to Oregon
Wright has been showing a lot of interest in Oregon for a few months now, but that interest reached an all time high a few weeks ago when he was officially predicted to flip to the Ducks. So while it is still nice to see him climb the rankings, it doesn't really matter if he doesn't stick with Georgia.
Wright did give Georgia a little hope this weekend as he made a surprise visit to Athens for the weekend to take in G-Day. Considering he is from the west coast this is not an easy trip to make, so seeing him come all the way to Georgia shows that he might still be giving Georgia a chance in his recruitment.
But until these Oregon predictions go away it is hard to remain excited about his commitment and rise in the rankings.
Maybe Georgia will get lucky and find a way to hold onto his commitment, but for now it looks like this one is going Oregon's way. And it's a shame that is the case because Georgia was by his side recruiting him hard before he really blew up on the recruiting scene.
But sometimes that doesn't really matter anymore.
