The first of many dominoes from the fallout of Michigan firing Sherrone Moore fell Thursday and this one should be of great interest to Georgia.
Matt Ludwig, one of the top tight ends in the country, was released from his letter of intent with the Wolverines and plans to re-open his recruitment. He chose the Wolverines back in May, but the Bulldogs were among his original top group of schools, along with Notre Dame, Texas A&M, Texas Tech and Tennessee.

Ludwig looks like a perfect fit for Bulldogs
The 6-foot-4, 245-pound athlete from Billings, Montana looks the part and has everything that Kirby Smart wants from players at the position. Ludwig is a multi-sport athlete that also plays basketball and wrestles. He played nearly every position on both sides of the ball at Billings West High School and was named the Gatorade Player of the Year in Montana.
Ludwig has a four-star rating by 247Sports, and he's among the 250 players in the nation and top-10 at his projected position. Montana isn't often a state that the top programs search for talent in, but one look at this clip, and it's easy to see why Ludwig received so much attention nationally.
A rivals recruiting reporter made the trip to Montana to see Matt Ludwig. This is why he’s going to Michigan. Well one reason.

Ludwig liked the Bulldogs history with tight ends
Georgia has players in the NFL at nearly every position and tight end is no exception. Over the past decade Georgia has seen multiple players at the positon get drafted including Tre' McKitty (2021), Darnell Washington (2023) and Brock Bowers (2024). There's a very good chance that both of Georgia's tight ends Oscar Delp and Luckie Lawson hear their name called in upcoming drafts.
Back in April, Ludwig told Brandon Huffman of 247Sports that he loved the way Georgia used their tight ends.
"I really like (tight ends coach) Todd Hartley and his coaching style," Ludwig said. "I love Georgia's winning tradition and the way they utilize the tight end."
Georgia signed three projected tight ends in the 2026 class, but Kirby Smart is never one to turn down more talent on the roster and the Bulldogs' offense regularly uses multiple tight ends.
