The biggest news in the SEC this weekend didn’t happen on the field, rather it occurred off the field as Auburn decided to fire head coach Hugh Freeze on Sunday. This decision came after the Tigers lost in embarrassing fashion at home to Kentucky 10-3.

While this news doesn’t really impact Georgia on the field since they’ve already played Auburn this season, the Bulldogs could get some good news on the recruiting trail from this. Many of Auburn’s commits might start looking elsewhere now, but linebacker Shadarius Toodle is someone Georgia stands a great chance at flipping with Freeze out of the picture.

Georgia could receive major recruiting news with Hugh Freeze out at Auburn

Toodle is a four-star recruit who is the No. 14 linebacker in the country. He likely is a name many Georgia fans recognize because he was once committed to UGA. But he unfortunately made the decision to flip his commitment to Auburn on Oct. 14 just a couple days after Georgia beat the Tigers on the field.

The timing of Toodle’s decision was strange to say the least, but the fact that he was originally committed to Auburn earlier this summer makes it even stranger. So Toodle has now gone from an Auburn commit to a Georgia commit and now back to an Auburn commit in the span of a few months. But now that Freeze has been fired, could Toodle be on the verge of flipping one more time back to Georgia?

Toodle hasn’t shown any interest yet in ditching Auburn since Freeze was fired, but if he does then Georgia is the only realistic landing spot for him. So be sure to monitor his name closely, because it would not be surprising to see Georgia steal him from Auburn for a second time.
