These are the moments where champions are made. The Georgia Bulldogs were largely in control of this game vs. the Texas Longhorns, but a stagnating offense during the middle of the contest briefly made it closer than it needed to be. Georgia was up 14-10 and really struggling to find momentum on offense. A gutsy fourth-down conversion helped provide the boost Georgia needed to take the game.

Georgia was able to extend this drive of note by way of a fourth-down conversion and a Texas offsides penalty, culminating in a crucial touchdown reception by wide receiver London Humphreys. Georgia was not done after that. The next series of events completely flipped this game forever in Georgia's favor. We saw a touchdown pass, followed by an onside kick, followed by another six points.

Here is Gunner Stockton's third touchdown pass of the night, giving Georgia 21-10 lead in the fourth.

And here is the ensuing onside kick that shocked the entire internet. Nobody saw this one coming!

And here is the play that effectively ended it for Texas. Lawson Luckie was the one to score No. 4.

After missing the second half of last week with a concussion, Luckie needed to be the one to end it.

Georgia knocks Texas out of College Football Playoff with an onside kick

It took the entire team to come together to get this latest signature win over Texas. While Georgia did get off to an early lead, the Bulldogs had to grind their way to victory before the floodgates opened. Head coach Kirby Smart was the one to kick them open. Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian knew a trick play was coming, but even his team was not ready for what was about to kick them in the teeth.

There are moments like this during a team's national championship run where they kind of sort of present themselves. During the 2021 season, Dan Jackson's blocked punt vs. Arkansas was one of those moments. Brock Bowers' unbelievable touchdown catch vs. Florida was another in 2022. Georgia has a long way to go to achieve that, but this onside kick is striking the same nerve as those.

Overall, we are looking at a team that is jelling at absolutely the right time. While Big Ten buzz saws Indiana and Ohio State are undefeated, as is Texas A&M by the skin of its teeth, none of those teams are going to want to face Georgia. Texas had everything to play for on Saturday with its playoff hopes hanging in the balances. Instead, Georgia hit them with the hardest Horns Down in SEC play to date.

In a game where punting was such a liability, it was great to see the special teams come through here.
