Georgia football just defeated rival Florida 24-20 on Saturday, but they don't have much time to celebrate that win. The Bulldogs have yet another big game on the road against Mississippi State this weekend and they have to win in order to keep their goal of winning the SEC alive.
Georgia is favored by 7.5 points which doesn't feel like a lot, but it does show that UGA should expect to win this game. But in order for Georgia to actually win this game, they will have to overcome a few significant off the field disadvantages.
Georgia faces multiple off the field disadvantages vs Mississippi State
The first off the field challenge Georgia is going to have to overcome is moving past their emotional win over Florida. Beating a rival is always a big deal, but the manner in which Georgia took down Florida made the win that much more exciting. This victory gave Georgia an emotional high and a reason to celebrate a little longer than normal, but if they don't get over this win soon that could impact their preparations for Mississippi State.
Georgia also has a massive game looming against Texas in two weeks. The Longhorns have all of a sudden won four straight games and are just outside the top 10 of the AP Poll, so that has quickly turned into a huge matchup. So Georgia could very easily overlook Mississippi State who only has one win in the SEC and start thinking about playing Texas in two weeks, but Georgia has to give Mississippi State their full attention.
Both of these factors will be challenging for Georgia to overcome, but this isn't Kirby Smart's first rodeo. He has faced similar challenges in the past, so he will know what he has to do to make sure his team gives Mississippi State their full attention on Saturday.
