Georgia fans have been begging for the wrong thing this whole time

Not that long ago the only thing Georgia football fans wanted to talk about was why UGA should fired Defensive Coordinator Glenn Schumann. And it was hard to disagree with that sentiment because Georgia's defense was really struggling and giving up a lot of points to every team they faced.

Thankfully Georgia was still playing well enough to keep winning, but something had to change or else it was just a matter of time until Georgia's defense cost UGA a game.

Fast forward to today and something has changed. Georgia's defense has finally turned a corner over the last few weeks and have started playing the style of football that fans have grown used to under Kirby Smart. Schumann is showing that Georgia fans shouldn't be begging for him to be fired, but they instead should be begging for him to stay.

Georgia fans should be praying Glenn Schumann doesn't leave

Georgia's win over Texas on Saturday is the perfect example of why Georgia fans should be hoping Schumann does not leave Athens anytime soon. The Bulldogs defense gave up just 10 points to an electric Texas offense, and seven of those points weren't really their fault as a Gunner Stockton interception gave the Longhorns perfect field position.

Schumann's name has been linked to a few open head coaching jobs over the last month. Both Florida and LSU have been thrown around as two programs that could be interested in hiring him, and initially Georgia fans were fine with the idea of him leaving. But that shouldn't be the case anymore.

Instead of begging for Scumann to leave Georgia, fans should be praying that he stays in Athens because he has his defense playing at an extremely high level. It will be interesting to see if any programs actually offer him a job when this season comes to an end, but everyone at Georgia should be hoping he denies them all and sticks around in Athens for as long as possible.
