Georgia fans will have to fight back tears over Florida’s newfound “buzz”

Georgia has no choice but to put Florida back in their place like they always do.

Georgia fans have been loving their rivalry with Florida recently. Ever since Kirby Smart took over as head coach they have absolutely dominated the Gators, and that has taken place against three different Florida head coaches.

Smart will now matchup against a new head coach from Florida again this year as Jon Sumrall is the new man in charge of the Gators. Florida fans have a lot of hope that he will finally bring their program back to where they think they belong, but Georgia has seen this same song and dance many times.

Every time they hire a new coach there is a lot of “buzz” that ultimately leads to countless losses and failed seasons until they do the same thing all over again. So why would this time be any different?

Georgia fans got a good chuckle out of the “buzz” surrounding Florida’s program

Georgia is an impressive 8-2 against Florida during Smart’s career as head coach. This includes a loss in Smart’s first game against Florida, so the Bulldogs have won eight of the last nine meetings including the last five.

It really doesn’t get much more dominant than that.

Florida however is confident that this time will be different, but what are they basing that on? Blind optimism? Sometimes that’s all it takes for fans to feel confident about their team, and that is absolutely what is happening with Florida.

Just recently their fans were bragging about having a higher recruiting class ranking at the end of April. But what happened days later? Five-star Jaxon Dollar committed to Georgia which moved them multiple spots above Florida in the rankings.

Maybe this time will be different. Maybe Florida finally hired a competent head coach. Or maybe history will once again repeat itself and they will be looking for a new head coach once again in four years after failing to beat Georgia or win anything of significance.
