Thursday night Georgia received some great news as five-star tight end Jaxon Dollar announced his commitment to Kirby Smart and the Bulldogs. Dollar is the No. 2 tight end in the country, so that fact alone made it very easy for fans to get excited about his commitment.

That excitement however should be taken to a new level though based on what the experts are saying about his commitment to Georgia.

Recruiting expert's Jaxon Dollar assessment will have Georgia fans fired up about their new TE commit

247Sports’ Andrew Ivins said that Dollar is the best pass-catching tight end in the country. That is not an easy title to earn, but that is what Dollar will bring to Georgia when he arrives on campus next year.

Ivins also said that he believes Dollar will only get better. 247Sports’ individual rankings only have him as a four-star (on their composite he is a five-star), but he believes it’s only a matter of time until he earns their coveted fifth star.

Georgia has dominating the recruiting trail particularly with tight ends for the last few years. Just last year in the 2025 class they signed three of the top 10 tight ends in the country, and now they’re adding the No. 2 tight end as well. That level of talent is impossible to compete with, so Georgia will more than likely have the best tight end room in the country for years to come.

Georgia has always been at their best when they have dominant tight ends. Just think about how easy it was for Georgia’s offense the three years that Brock Bowers was in Athens? It may not be fair to expect any of these players to be as good as Bowers, but if they can approach his level of dominance then that would be good enough to take their offense to the next level.

Georgia still has a long ways to go to complete their 2027 recruiting class, but a commitment from Dollar will help take this class to the top of the recruiting rankings. Obviously they need to hold onto his commitment until he can sign, but they’ve never had issues holding onto tight ends in the past so that is something no one should be worried about.

But this is a commitment that should be celebrated. Smart and his staff had to make a late push to come out on top, so before worrying about what’s next it’s important to enjoy these special moments when an elite player commits to Georgia.
