Georgia football dominates TV viewership during Tennessee game

Georgia football dismantled Tennessee this past Saturday 31-17 in what was the best win of the college football weekend. Quite literally everyone had their eyes on this game as it was one of two games that featured ranked opponents, with this game specifically being a matchup between top 12 teams.

With College GameDay in Athens to help build up hype for this game Saturday morning, the average college football fan made sure to pay attention and watch this game Saturday night. So much so that TV viewership numbers for Georgia's win over Tennessee dominated any other game that day.

Georgia-Tennessee Dominate TV Viewership Numbers

It is being reported that an average of 10 million viewers were tuned in throughout Georgia's game against Tennessee this weekend, with a peak of 11.4 million viewers. This was the largest total of the primetime slot out of all networks. On top of that, this total dominated the leading game from the noon and late afternoon windows as well, by at least four million each.

It really shouldn't be all that surprising to see this game dominate the TV ratings like this, but to hit 10 million average viewers and almost 11.5 million at its peak it a massive number. It's rare to see a game cross the 10 million mark no matter who is playing, but it's clear that the country was excited to watch Georgia play this game against Tennessee.

This isn't the first time that a big win by Georgia this season had a massive number of viewers. During their win against Texas earlier this season, 12.9 million people tuned in to watch this game, which is the most on an ESPN network since 2016.

So it's safe to say that people love to watch Georgia play. Whether they want to see Georgia win or lose, they can't take their eyes off of Kirby Smart and the Bulldogs, which goes to show just how big of a brand Georgia is in college football nowadays.
