Georgia football free falls down AP Poll rankings
To likely no one’s surprise, Georgia football has fallen extremely far down the AP Poll rankings. That’s to be expected after getting absolutely destroyed against the No. 16 team in the country.
Georgia in fact has fallen outside the top 10 in the AP Poll rankings, falling all the way to No. 11.
On the bright side, there’s still a lot of season left, so Kirby Smart and Georgia have plenty of time to work their way back up these rankings. The AP Poll also isn’t the most important rankings anymore as the College Football Playoff rankings are the only rankings that truly matter. So Georgia will find out on Tuesday how far they’ve dropped in the CFP rankings, but until those get released Georgia is the current No. 11 team in the country.
SEC teams in the updated AP Poll
Rank | Team |
---|---|
3 | Texas |
6 | Tennessee |
9 | Alabama |
10 | Ole Miss |
11 | Georgia |
15 | Texas A&M |
21 | LSU |
23 | South Carolina |
24 | Missouri |
Georgia football is now the fifth highest ranked team in the SEC, something most fans likely never thought was possible heading into the season. But again, it's hard to argue against the AP's decision because of how bad Georgia looked in their loss to Ole Miss Saturday night.
On the bright side for Georgia, they are going to have a chance to prove themselves this coming weekend. The Bulldogs finally make their return to Athens and will take on No. 6 Tennessee Saturday night. Georgia will have the attention of the entire country as ESPN's College GameDay will be in town for this game. What better opportunity to show the world what this team is really made of.
All there's left to do now is hope that Georgia plays the way they know they can play and handle their business at home against the Vols on Saturday. And hopefully this time next week Georgia will find themselves back inside the top 10 once again.
