Georgia football fans have been growing increasingly impatient throughout the transfer portal season as Kirby Smart is yet to earn a commitment from a transfer. And after seeing nearly every other program find some success, those worries seemed valid.
However, there is no longer a need to be concerned because Georgia has officially picked up some predictions to land one of the top players in the portal.
Kentucky transfer WR Dane Key
Dane Key is a transfer wide receiver who has spent three seasons at Kentucky. This past season for Key was electric as he recorded 47 receptions for 715 yards and two touchdowns.
After this past season, Key decided to enter the portal and look for a new team for his final season in college. Georgia immediately became interested in Key, and these stats along with the fact that he is the No. 10 overall player in the portal, according to 247Sports, make it quite clear why UGA would want him.
However, it was not smooth sailing for Georgia in this recruitment. Ole Miss appeared to be the team to beat initially, but that all changed earlier this week when Key took his visit to Georgia. That visit must have gone extremely well because Key has now picked up official predictions on 247Sports and On3 to win this recruitment.
Obviously no recruitment is ever over until the player announces their commitment, but this recruitment feels about as set in stone as possible. And if this prediction comes true, this will be a massive win for Georgia as their wide receiver room needs a lot of help after the struggles they experienced this season.
There is not timeline for a commitment at this moment, but transfer recruitments tend to move fast, so it would not be surprising to see Key make it official very soon.
