It has become very apparent who Georgia football's top target is in the transfer portal. Kirby Smart and UGA originally were targeting Georgia Tech wide receiver Eric Singleton Jr., but there is no longer any interest there after the NIL price for Singleton rose to a level that Georgia didn't want to pay.
But that is alright because Georgia has a few other targets at wide receiver they are very interested in, and one of those players is Kentucky wide receiver Dane Key. And it appears that Key has a lot of interest in Georgia as well because he is currently on a visit to Georgia, according to his Instagram.
Kentucky transfer WR Dane Key
Key has had a very interesting recruitment up to this point. Georgia showed a lot of interest in Key immediately after he entered the portal, so much so that On3 actually named Georgia the leader in his recruitment. Even a recruiting expert on Rivals agreed that the Bulldogs were the team to beat.
However, that momentum didn't last long as Ole Miss became heavily involved in this recruitment and became the favorite according to On3. But Georgia has not given up as they currently have Key on a visit to Athens on Tuesday, Dec. 17.
It is clear why Georgia has a lot of interestin Key because he had an impressive career at Kentucky. This past season, Key recorded 47 receptions for 715 yards and two touchdowns. While that definitely isn't a lot of touchdowns, Key did haul in 12 touchdowns during his freshman and sophomore seasons, so he is more than capable of finding the end zone.
On3 still has Ole Miss as the favorite in this recruitment, but it will be interesting to see if that changes after his visit to Georgia. Regardless, Smart and his staff are working vey hard to improve the wide receiver room, and there is a great chance they earn a commitment from a transfer very soon.
