Georgia football moves down in Joel Klatt's top 10 rankings

Georgia football has moved down in certain rankings, but it really isn't anything to be concerned about yet.

As Georgia football hits the halfway point in their season, there is a distinct difference in the amount of confidence everyone has in this team. If you're anything like me, you are still very high on Kirby Smart's squad even after their somewhat disappointing 41-31 win over Mississippi State. On the other hand you have a large portion of college football fans who think Georgia isn't as great as they once were and shouldn't be ranked as high as they are.

This week's AP Poll had Georgia stay put at No. 5, but FoxSports analyst Joel Katt actually had the Bulldogs move down in his rankings.

Last week Klatt had Georgia at No. 3 on his list, but with Oregon's win over Ohio State he rightfully moved the Ducks ahead of Georgia. I was unsure if he would keep the Buckeyes ahead of Georgia or not, but he ended up making the decision to do so. Again, I can't blame him for that decision since Ohio State nearly beat Oregon on the road.

So while Klatt did move Georgia down one spot, I don't think it's anything to be concerned about. He still has the Bulldogs one spot better than the AP, and multiple spots better than I have seen in other rankings.

Georgia has the opportunity to move up this weekend

One thing in Georgia's favor is that they have a massive opprotunity this weekend to move up in everryone's rankings. Whether it be the coaches, AP or Kaltt's rankings, a win over the consensus No. 1 team in the country will move the Bulldogs up.

Looking at Klatt's list specifically, he would have no choice but to slide Georgia up to No. 2 at worst. They would obviously have to pass Texas and I think they would leapfrog Ohio State as well. There would be a solid argument to move Oregon up to No. 1 and keep them ahead of UGA, and I think that's what everyone would end up deciding to do including me.

At the end of the day though I don't think any Georgia fan really cares where the Bulldogs would end up if they beat Texas. A win against the Longhorns would cement them both as an SEC Championship and National Championship contender, and at the end of the day that's all that matters.
