Georgia football SEC Championship early odds and a prediction
It’s officially SEC Championship week after Georgia football took down Georgia Tech 44-42 in overtime on Friday night.
While we wait to see who Kirby Smart and Georgia will play in the SEC Championship game next weekend, FanDuel Sportsbook has already released odds for both of Georgia’s potential opponents. The Bulldogs will play the winner of the Texas and Texas A&M game on Saturday, but let’s see what Vegas thinks of Georgia’s chances against both opponents.
Georgia football SEC Championship early odds
As of 10:00 am EST on Saturday, Nov. 30, Georgia is a 1.5 point favorite if they were to play Texas in the SEC Championship game. However, Vegas likes Georgia against Texas A&M a lot more, favoring the Bulldogs by 8.5 points.
Georgia football SEC Championship game prediction
Looking at this data from Vegas alone, Georgia fans should want A&M to beat Texas because Vegas thinks they have a better chance at beating the Aggies than the Longhorns. And most Georgia fans would probably agree with that because of how difficult it is to beat the same team twice in one season.
But will Texas A&M be able to beat Texas on Saturday? The Aggies are more desperate than Texas because the Longhorns will still make the College Football Playoff even if they lose, so that fact along with A&M being the home team does benefit Texas A&M. The Longhorns may also be without starting QB Quinn Ewers, so that is just another reason that the Aggies can pull off the upset against Texas.
And that’s exactly what we are predicting to happen.
Looking ahead now to Georgia’s potential matchup with Texas A&M, and a lot of the same things remain for A&M. They would still need to win this game to make the CFP while Georgia doesn’t. On top of that, the Bulldogs have a lot of injuries that they’re dealing with that will make winning this game very difficult.
However, all season long Georgia has always found a way to get the job done. And that will continue next weekend against the Aggies in dominant fashion.
Prediction: Georgia beats Texas A&M 34-17
