Georgia football is quickly becoming a favorite in many people's College Football Playoff predictions. But not long ago (less than a week if we're being specific) a lot of people thought Georgia could miss the CFP altogether. But then the Bulldogs defeated the No. 1 Texas Longhorns which made everyone a believer in Georgia once again.

So what does Georgia's outlook for the new 12-team playoff look like?

As you all know by now, the four highest ranked conference champions are seeded 1-4 and given a first round bye. But there is still a chance Georgia doesn't end up winning the SEC, which would put them somewhere in the 5-12 range. Unless of course they lose a lot of games and miss out altogether.

With all the potential scenarios this season in college football could see, it makes it very hard to predict where Kirby Smart's team will finish in the CFP rankings. However, everyone is still making their predictions with nearly seven weeks of college football still to play.

The Athletic is the latest publication to release their predictions, so let's see where they currently have Georgia.

Georgia will earn the No. 1 seed according to The Athletic

To no one's surprise, The Athletic has Georgia inside the 12-team field. Not many will debate against their inclusion at this point, but the part that is up for debate is where Georgia will be ranked. And as it stands today, The Athletic has the Bulldogs as the No. 1 seed in the CFP.

This means that The Athletic thinks Georgia will not only win their five remaining regular season games, but they will win the SEC championship as well.

In all honesty, this is probably the most likely scenario to occur. Yes Georgia still has a lot of difficult games in front of them, but they likely will be favored in them all including the SEC Championship game. So a 12-1 season with an SEC title to their name will easily be good enough to earn the top seed.

Georgia likely would need some help from Oregon to asend to No. 1 considering the Ducks are undefeated and the current No. 1 team in the country according to the AP Poll. But The Athletic has them losing at some point this season, likely to Ohio State in a rematch in the Big Ten Championship game.

Predictions in Georgia's favor are always great to see, but at the end of the day they don't mean much. Georgia still has to lace it up six more times (hopefully) before the final 12-team CFP bracket is released. But if they can win these six games then they will have as good of an argument for the No. 1 overall seed than any other team.
