Georgia Football vs. Texas Longhorns early odds and a prediction
Georgia football has the biggest game of their season coming up as they have a rematch with No. 2 Texas in the SEC Championship game this Saturday. UGA is coming off a very emotional win against their in-state rival Georgia Tech on Friday, but they are going to have to quickly turn the page to prepare for a Texas team that has revenge on their minds.
Everyone knows that this game is more than likely going to be a very close contest, and that includes Vegas, who currently has the spread favoring one team by less than a field goal.
Current Georgia vs. Texas Odds
As of 6:00 am EST on Monday, Dec. 2, Georgia is a 2.5 point underdog to Texas in this weekend's SEC Championship game according to FanDuel Sportsbook. The over-under for this game is set at 49.5 points. ESPN's Football Power Index also gives Georgia a 38.5 percent chance of beating Texas this weekend as well.
Georgia vs. Texas Prediction
It goes without saying that this game is going to be difficult for Georgia to win. Ever since Georgia beat Texas earlier this season, the Longhorns have gotten a lot better and have not lost another game. This includes an impressive 17-7 victory at Texas A&M this past weekend, where the Aggies only touchdown came off an interception they returned for a touchdown. So the Longhorns defense is playing out of their minds right now, and their offense is playing very well as well.
But Georgia is playing some good football too. The UGA offense specifically is beginning to play a little better, especially QB Carson Beck who has gone the last three games without turning the ball over. And if you remember in the first meeting, Georgia still beat Texas even though Beck threw three interceptions, so if Beck stays turnover free again then that would be a huge advantage for Georgia in this game.
But it unfortunately feels like Georegia's luck is going to run out in this game. The Bulldogs can definitely win, but their history in the SEC Championship game is not great under Kirby Smart, and Texas just feels like they are playing a little better than Georgia right now.
Prediction: Texas wins 24-23
