Kirby Smart just wrapped up Georgia’s first official visit weekend of the summer. He brought in countless recruits that would be huge additions to Georgia’s program, and the consensus is that they made a huge impression on a lot of them.

Wide receiver Majay Thompson may just be the one player that Smsrt made the biggest impression on. In fact, Georgia is now the overwhelming favorite to win his recruitment after his visit to Athens this past weekend.

Big visit has Georgia trending with elite WR Majay Thompson

It’s easy to read the headlines that say Georgia is in a good spot with a recruit, but it’s better to hear it directly from them. That is exactly what happened with Thompson who shared an extremely encouraging quote about where things stand with Georgia right now.

”Georgia is definitely in a strong spot in my recruitment.”

This doesn’t say that Georgia is guaranteed to win his recruitment, but it does give off a vibe that they are the clear leader right now. Combining that quote with the fact that Rivals gives Georgia a 92 percent chance to win his recruitment is why everyone should be feeling really good about where things stand right now.

Georgia’s biggest competition (Alabama) is still looming large though, and they will have a chance to steal Thompson from Smart.

Alabama still looms large with Majay Thompson after successful visit to Georgia

Alabama is and always will be Georgia’s biggest threat in the SEC. A big reason why is because they are capable of beating Georgia for any recruit, and that’s what they’re attempting to do with Thompson.

It’s clear that Thompson and Alabama have a great relationship, but how does it compare to his relationship with Georgia? Rivals believes that Georgia is in a much better spot, but Alabama isn’t going down without a fight.

The Tide will reportedly host him on an official visit in June, but if it were up to Georgia that visit will never happen. The perfect scenario is Smart convincing Thompson to cancel this visit to Alabama and to just commit to Georgia now. That is easier said than done, but if he does visit Alabama that could really swing things in the Tide’s favor.

It will be interesting to see how things shake out, but if it were up to Georgia they will make sure this visit never happens. And Smart undoubtedly will be in his ear about that over the next month.
