There are a handful of schools out there that can beat Georgia for a recruit where it makes a lot of sense. Alabama, Ohio State and Texas are a few examples of those schools that Georgia can lose to that really shouldn't upset the fanbase all that much.
Georgia however just lost to Washington of all schools for one of the top defensive backs in the country. That player is four-star corner Censere Gaylord, who is the No. 112 player in the country, who chose Washington over Georgia on Saturday.

Georgia loses another key recruitment to a school they shouldn't be losing to
It wasn't all bad recruiting news for Georgia this weekend as they did earn a big pledge from four-star offensive lineman Miller Westerfield on Friday, but this defeat quickly eliminated the momentum UGA earned from that win.
How is Georgia losing to a school like Washington? The Huskies are a program that doesn't even compare to Georgia and they also aren't known for having a lot of NIL money either. Those facts alone makes this a recruitment they couldn't afford to lose, but unfortunately that is exactly what has happened.
This is also just one of many examples of Georgia losing recruits to schools they can't afford to lose to. They lost another elite defensive back to Clemson not long ago after he appeared to be heavily leaning towards UGA for most of his recruitment. They even lost a four-star in-state offensive tackle to Georgia Tech this summer as well.
There have been far too many examples of Georgia losing recruitments that they typically win, and that may be why they are currently ranked outside of the top 10.
It is officially time to panic about Georgia's defensive back class
Panicking about a recruiting class in mid-July typically is a silly thing to do, but when it comes to Georgia's defensive back class it may be time to do so.
How many defensive backs are currently committed to Georgia's 2027 recruiting class? The answer to that would be zero. Yes, that means Georgia has zero corners and zero safeties committed to them right now. The Bulldogs have a very healthy 18 commits right now, but somehow they have zero commits at the position that most recruiting classes have the most players.
To make matters even worse, Georgia once upon a time had two top 100 defensive backs committed to their 2027 class. Then in a matter of days five-star Donte Wright flipped to Miami and Jerry Outhouse made the move to UCLA which arguably is an even worse loss than this one.
Georgia has some serious work to do if they are going to sign a top 10 recruiting class in the country. That however shouldn't be the focus right now. Right now Kirby Smart and his staff need to start adding some defensive backs or else they could be in danger of signing a recruiting class with zero players at that position.
That would be a disaster.
