Anticipation is really beginning to ramp up for Georgia football fans on the recruiting trail. One name that every UGA fan is watching closely is five-star quarterback Jared Curtis, who is the No. 1 quarterback in the 2026 class.

Curtis has narrowed his recruitment down to Georgia and Oregon, and at this point it is still too close to know who the leader is. But with Curtis's commitment date of May 5 fast approaching, Georgia and Oregon fans won't have to wait much longer to find out where he is heading to play his college ball.

Everyone who follows recruiting knows that recruitments for top players will impact how things shake out with other top recruits. That is especially the case with the No. 1 quarterback in the country as everyone would love the opportunity to play with someone as talented as Curtis.

But there is one other recruitment trending Georgia's direction that could increase UGA's chances of landing Curtis.

Latest prediction for 5-star OT Jackson Cantwell could help Georgia land Curtis

Every great quarterback needs an elite offensive line, and that offensive line will always begin with stellar offensive tackle play. So Curtis may be more likely to commit to Georgia if they have an elite offensive tackle heading to Athens with him.

Thankfully for Georgia it appears that is exactly what is happening as the No. 1 player in the country, Jackson Cantwell, was predicted to commit to Georgia on Thursday. Cantwell is as good as it comes for an offensive tackle out of high school, and that is seen with his No. 1 overall ranking, so if Cantwell in fact is coming to Georgia then Curtis may want to follow him.

The bad news is that Cantwell isn't making is final decision until May 13, which is one week after Curtis announces his decision. But as of now it appears that Cantwell is heading to Georgia, and that could be the final thing needed to tip Curtis's recruitment in Georgia's favor.
