Georgia football offensive coordinator Mike Bobo has been under fire for most of his tenure with the Bulldogs. Displeasure with Bobo reached an all time high after Georgia's loss to Notre Dame in the College Football Playoff last season as fans were calling for Kirby Smart to fire Bobo.

That ultimately did not end up happening, but there were rumors later in the offseason that Bobo may be ready to retire on his own as well. That obviously did not occur either, and Bobo on Wednesday addressed these rumors with the media during Georgia's 2025 fall camp.

"No, I feel great," Bobo shared via 247sports.com. "Everybody knows I had some health issues when I was at Colorado State. I deal with some of that with some nerves in my feet, but I feel great. I'm probably as excited as I've ever been, not to try to prove something."

Mike Bobo is as motivated as ever, no plans of stepping down

Bobo was asked directly about the rumors this offseason about him potentially retiring, and he made it very clear that there was never any truth to that. Bobo also shared that he has had some health issues which has been the case for a few years now, but those issues are not going to slow him down this season either.

The best part about the above quote is that Bobo doesn't feel the need to prove himself to anyone. Sure Georgia fans were upset with how he ran the offense last season, but he doesn't need approval from the fanbase. Sure he needs to continue to prove himself to Smart and the rest of the coaching staff and team, but nothing anyone outside of the program says really matters.

Georgia fans would love nothing more than for Bobo to prove them wrong this season with a much better year from the offense. However, if that does not happen early in the season Georgia fans likely will continue to push for him to be let go.
