The Georgia Bulldogs received a notable boost on the college football recruiting trail Sunday as On3 Director of Recruiting Chad Simmons logged a prediction for Georgia to land three-star 2027 EDGE prospect Marcellus Young Casario.

DawgReport took to X, formerly Twitter, and shared a graphic of Simmons's submission on where he believes the pass rusher will play at the next level.

It is important to note that Simmons’ submission is a recruiting prediction rather than a commitment. As of this writing, he has not publicly announced a decision.

Georgia is trending for elite EDGE Marcellus Young Casario immediately after he visited Athens

Casario, a 6-foot-6, 260-pound prospect from Rabun Gap-Nacoochee School in Rabun Gap, GA, is currently rated as a three-star recruit and the No. 54 EDGE prospect in the 2027 recruiting class. The Halifax, Nova Scotia native previously played at St. Andrew’s College in Ontario before continuing his development in Georgia.

This prediction follows a significant recruiting stretch for the Bulldogs. Casario was in Athens over the weekend after previously making visits to Michigan State on June 1 and Georgia Tech on June 5. Simmons’ prediction, submitted on June 14, signals growing confidence that the Bulldogs have positioned themselves favorably in the recruitment.

From a scouting perspective, Casario possesses many of the physical traits Georgia has historically prioritized along the defensive front. His 6-foot-6 frame, impressive length, and ability to carry significant weight make him an intriguing developmental prospect with substantial upside.

During his junior season, Casario appeared in six games and recorded 14 tackles, seven tackles for loss, three sacks, and eight quarterback hurries. While the raw tackle total may not immediately stand out, the underlying production is noteworthy. Half of his tackles occurred behind the line of scrimmage, highlighting his disruptive potential as a front-seven defender.

His film and statistical profile point to a player capable of setting the edge against the run while also developing into a productive pass rusher. Casario's long reach and power allow him to create separation from blockers, and his size provides a strong foundation for future growth. Recruiting evaluators view his frame as one that could continue adding strength and mass without sacrificing effectiveness on the perimeter.

Kirby Smart could turn Marcellus Young Casario into a monster

Upside is a significant reason the Georgia football recruiting prediction stands out. Under Kirby Smart and defensive line coach Tray Scott, Georgia has become one of the nation’s best programs at developing defensive front talent. The Bulldogs have shown a consistent eye for prospects with size, length, and power and then turned those traits into production.

Georgia's history of producing disruptive defensive linemen and edge defenders has become a major selling point on the recruiting trail. Former Bulldog standouts such as Jordan Davis and Devonte Wyatt entered college as developmental prospects before emerging as NFL Draft selections, reinforcing the program's track record of maximizing size, length, and athletic potential.

For that reason, Simmons’ projection is noteworthy within the 2027 cycle. The three-star pass rusher fits the physical profile Georgia often targets, and his combination of size, production, edge-setting ability, pass-rush upside, and long-term developmental potential makes him a logical fit for the Bulldogs’ defensive scheme.

For now, however, the recruitment remains ongoing. While the latest prediction suggests the Bulldogs are in a strong position, Casario has not announced a commitment, allowing other programs to remain involved as the process continues.
