Georgia had the second-best odds to win the National Championship entering the College World Series. At one point on Friday it looked like they may become the betting favorite, but a comeback victory for North Carolina over Ole Miss made the Tar Heels an even bigger favorite than they already were.

So what happened to Georgia's odds to win it all? This heroic comeback victory from North Carolina sent Georgia's College World Series odds tumbling from +300 all the way to +340, according to FanDuel Sportsook, in the blink of an eye.

Vegas is quickly losing hope for Georgia at the College World Series

North Carolina was the bettering favorite to win a National Championship entering the College World Series. They however had just slightly better odds than Georgia at +290 entering Friday's games.

After their 6-2 victory over Ole Miss they now have +195 odds to win it all. So Georgia and UNC went from nearly having identical odds to the Tar Heels being a massive favorite over Georgia.

This big swing only has to do with the fact that Georgia hasn't played a game at the CWS and North Carolina inched their way closer to making the National Championship series. The Tar Heels only need to win two more games to get to the final series while Georgia still has to pass a difficult test against Texas before they are in the same position as UNC.

Georgia should try their best to not read into these odds, because if they handle their business on Saturday against the Longhorns their odds should catch back up to North Carolina.

What needs to happen for Georgia to become the CWS betting favorite?

All Georgia needs to do to see their odds improve is beat Texas. North Carolina was a slim favorite before they won their first game, so if Georgia matches their victory with a win of their own they should have very similar odds again.

In fact, if Georgia beats Texas it is extremely likely that they will face North Carolina in the National Championship series.

Sure Georgia and UNC would have a lot of work to do still to advance to the National Championship series, but both teams would absolutely love their odds to get there. Texas is Georgia's biggest hurdle in their bracket, so sending them to the loser's bracket with a win on Saturday would give them a great chance to advance.

North Carolina however is already in that position Georgia hopes to get to, and with a matchup looming against No. 16 West Virginia on Sunday they could strengthen their chances to make the National Championship series even more.

But right now Georgia just needs to take it one game at a time. Head coach Wes Johnson already said how he doesn't care about the Vegas odds, so that certainly hasn't changed after one night of games at the College World Series. It may not be a bad idea for him to show his team what Vegas thinks about their first game though, because Vegas believes Texas will beat Georgia.

In just a few hours fans will find out if Georgia or Texas will come out on top as first pitch is scheduled for Saturday, June 13 at 8:00 pm EST.
