Mike White and Georgia are desperate. After making the NCAA Tournament in back-to-back years they found themselves losing six players to the Transfer Portal and having zero momentum.

That is a very difficult thing to come back from, but all White and his staff can do is take it one day at a time and try to find as many good players as they can in the portal.

Thursday marked the day where they finally found some new life as they added former Penn State guard Freddie Dilione out of the portal.

Freddie Dilione is the perfect first addition for Georgia out of the Transfer Portal

Out of high school Dilione was the No. 41 player in the country. He opted to head to SEC rival Tennessee where he spent one season. He never really found his footing with the Vols and ultimately decided to transfer to Penn State ahead of the 2024 season.

This proved to be a great decision because he poured in 9.4 points per game in 2024-25. He then took his game to the next level this past season and led Penn State in scoring with 14.0 points per game.

Dilione is now coming back to the SEC where he will spend his final season of eligibility in Athens. At this point anyone would be a good player to add because there are so many holes in Georgia’s roster, but adding this level of scoring is a big deal.

Georgia lost their leading scorer to the portal already as Jeremiah Wilkinson took his talents to Arkansas. He is someone that will be difficult to replace, but Dilione should go a long way in adding some much needed scoring.

Georgia was in a dangerous place as a program after blowout losses in the NCAA Tournament two years in a row. Adding Dilione doesn’t fix all of their problems, but it’s a step in the right direction as Georgia looks to get back to the Big Dance for the third year in a row.
