The start of Georgia's 2026 campaign is right around the corner, and once again the Bulldogs will face one of the toughest schedules in the country. It will be a few weeks before their true tests begin because Georgia's first two games of the season are at home against bad non-conference opponents.

Tennessee State is up first followed by Western Kentucky in week two, and the kickoff times for these games were just announced on Wednesday. Unfortunately both start times were confirmed for times no fan will want to see.

Georgia's kickoff times for their first two games are as bad as it gets

All Georgia fans want is as many home night games as possible. This not only is when the Sanford Stadium is at it's best, but fans have all day to tailgate and prepare for the game as well. Unfortunately Georgia's season opener against Tennessee State will be a 3:00 pm EST start.

Then just one week later they will play Western Kentucky at 12:45 pm EST.

This means Georgia won't be rewarded with a night game in their first two opportunities which is very disappointing. On top of that, both players and fans will likely have to deal with extreme heat during these two games as well with the mid-afternoon sun making anyone that stands in it's path.

Georgia's luck with kickoff times didn't get any better in week three as their SEC opener at Arkansas during week three was scheduled for Noon EST. This kickoff time isn't as terrible because it's better to avoid road night games, but Arkansas is in the central timezone so this matchup will be an 11:00 am local start.

Georgia fans care far more about their home games though, so it's a shame that they got two brutal start times to begin the 2026 season. But fear not, Georgia has a huge showdown looming in week four at home that should be the Bulldogs' first home night game of the season.

TV networks can make up for their mistake during week 4 showdown against Oklahoma

After playing Arkansas in week three Georgia will head back home for a huge matchup against Oklahoma in week four. Georgia should be 3-0 entering this game and the Sooners should be as well as long as they can survive a road game at Michigan in week two.

Even if they lose that game though both teams will be ranked, and looking at the rest of the games across the country that weekend this may be the biggest game of the week. This then is the perfect opportunity for TV networks to reward Georgia by giving them and their fans a night game.

And who knows, maybe ESPN's College GameDay will come to Athens for this game as well.

Georgia's week four tilt against Oklahoma most likely won't get an official kickoff time until the season begins, so fans will have to wait a lot longer to find out when their first home night game of the season will be.

College football being back though will make these brutal start times tolerable. Georgia fans just have to get through the first three weeks and then their schedule will start to ramp up and give them more opportunities for better matchups and more exciting kickoff times.
