Georgia didn't find a lot of luck with five-star quarterbacks in the 2026 recruiting class thanks to Jared Curtis. Now they are giving it their best shot in the 2028 class. So far that is going extremely well as they already earned a commitment from Jayden Wade who is the No. 1 player in the country, but it's not going to be easy holding onto his commitment.
A few teams have already emerged as serious threats to flip him, but a new team has officially entered the conversation. That team is Alabama, and seeing them get involved is a bit concerning.
The Georgia football program has to fend off Alabama as they look to retain 5-star QB commit Jayden Wade
Alabama is one of the few programs that can stack up with Georgia. In fact, they still have a great argument for being a better program than UGA even after Nick Saban retired. That fact alone is why Kirby Smart should always be nervous when they start lurking around one of their commits.
So far all that has happened between Wade and Alabama is a scholarship offer. That offer was extended on March 6, so at this point there hasn't been enough time for a further relationship to develop. That however doesn't mean that the Crimson Tide aren't already trying.
The good news for Georgia is that Wade has reaffirmed his commitment even after he said he will take visits to other programs. That message however came before Alabama offered.
At this point it is impossible to say what this offer from Alabama has done to his recruitment. There is a chance it changes absolutely nothing, but there is an equal chance that it could change everything.
Georgia will eventually learn how Wade feels about this scholarship offer, but for now the Crimson Tide are yet another school trying to steal him from them.
