Mike White has a lot of work to do in the Transfer Portal this offseason. Georgia has had a few key players announce that they’re returning, but their six departures force White and his staff to be active in the portal.

One of their biggest losses so far is starting center Somto Cyril. He was one of the first Bulldogs to enter the portal and his departure leaves a gaping hole that White will have to find a replacement for, but so far Georgia hasn’t made any public progress with any transfer.

Cyril however has been one of the most sought after recruits in the portal up to this point, and it looks like he is going to make the exact same decision that Carson Beck made last year.

Georgia center Somto Cyril’s transfer destination might be known

The biggest story last offseason (potentially in the country) was when Carson Beck withdrew from the NFL Draft and transferred to Miami. No one ever saw that coming, but Georgia fans are getting a heads up this time that Cyril could be on his way to Miami as well.

This potential move won’t even compare to Beck last year. Sure Cyril was one of Georgia’s best players last year, but there is a massive difference between the Bulldogs football and basketball programs. Losing a star player on the basketball court just isn’t the same as losing their starting quarterback, so this decision won’t make national headlines like Beck did.

But it does keep an unfortunate streak going where Miami is able to pull elite players out of Athens. NIL is the only explanation for this because Miami’s programs aren’t any better than Georgia, but either way the Hurricanes are finding a lot of success stealing former Bulldogs.

Cyril’s decision isn’t official yet, but his final announcement could come any day now.
