Georgia passed their second test of the season after dominating Western Kentucky on Saturday 70-20. Up next for the Bulldogs is the start of SEC play as well as their first road game of the season as they travel to Arkansas in week three.
Up until this point Georgia hasn't played a team on their level yet, but the Razorbacks are Georgia's first true test of the season as they are their first Power Four opponent and first road game of the year as well.
Arkansas will be Georgia's toughest game yet
Tennessee State and Western Kentucky were never a threat to Georgia. Even before either game began Georgia knew they were going to win with ease, so the fact that they won both games without breaking much of a sweat wasn't surprising.
There probably weren't many fans that expected Georgia to win by 50 and 60 points though, but those easy games are a thing of the past now. Georgia is done playing non-Power Four teams as the final 10 games on their schedule will feature teams that are on their level in college football.
Arkansas has players on their team that could give Georgia fits. They have talented football players and a coaching staff that have earned the right to play and coach at an SEC school, and the fact that this is a road game will make this matchup even more challenging.
While this will be a more difficult test, Arkansas still might not be able to present a real challenge for Georgia.
The Razorbacks still might not be the real challenge Georgia is looking for
Arkansas is 1-1 entering this matchup against Georgia. Their lone win game in week one against North Alabama which they only won 31-14. Following that win they traveled out west to take on No. 20 Utah in week two, and that wasn't much of a contest. Utah dominated Arkansas from the opening kickoff and ultimately won 43-10.
Those two results confirm what everyone thought about Arkansas heading into this season which was that they could be one of the worst teams in the SEC this year. So even though they will be Georgia's most difficult test so far this season they should be a relatively easy opponent to defeat.
After Arkansas the Bulldogs will begin facing far more difficult teams. A home game against Oklahoma in week four looms large as does a road game at Alabama in week six. Georgia however needs to handle their business against Arkansas first, but all signs so far this season point to this being another big victory.
Georgia more than likely won't win by 50 points for the rest of the season, but there's a chance they beat Arkansas by 30 which against another SEC team is a blowout victory.
Kickoff between Georgia and Arkansas is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 19 at 12:00 pm EST.
