After Georgia plays Oklahoma this week they will have one of their most enticing games of the season against Vanderbilt up next. Vegas just released their opening odds for this game and Georgia is favored by 23.5 points, according to DraftKings Sportsbook.
Former Georgia quarterback commit Jared Curtis is expected to be Vandy's starting quarterback for this game, so that makes Georgia potentially blowing Vanderbilt out that much better as they look to get revenge against their former five-star commit.
Vegas predicts sweet revenge against Vandy and Jared Curtis
The one thing that matters for Georgia is winning, as long as they keep winning all of their games then nothing else matters all that much. It however is impossible to ignore the opportunity they have for revenge against Jared Curtis next week.
Curtis was a five-star quarterback in the 2026 recruiting class who decommitted from Georgia not once, but twice. The second time he chose to decommit he did so just a couple days before signing day when he made the decision to flip to Vanderbilt, his hometown school.
Curtis didn't start for Vanderbilt in their first two games this season, but he is their starter now and most likely will be when they come to Georgia next week. This gives Georgia an opportunity to show him how big of a mistake he made by flipping to Vandy, and Vegas is expecting Georgia will win in emphatic fashion.
Georgia vs Vanderbilt is missing one thing thanks to the SEC
Georgia's upcoming game against Vanderbilt has nearly everything it needs to be a great day in Athens. They are predicted to win by over three touchdowns against one of the players they most want revenge against, and they get to do it during Georgia's annual Homecoming game too.
The only thing missing is a good game time because the SEC announced this week that this matchup will begin either at Noon or 12:45 pm EST.
This is the worst possible start time Georgia could've gotten. A mid-afternoon game isn't all that bad, but what fans really want is a night game which Georgia hasn't had yet this season. Their chance for revenge against Curtis and Vanderbilt is a great story to sell to a national audience in prime time, but there's a chance this will be a battle between two 4-0 teams as well.
Instead the SEC gave LSU yet another night game against FCS McNeese State. They also gave Texas A&M a night game this week even though they just lost to Kentucky at home and play Arkansas who could be the worst team in the conference this season.
Georgia and Vanderbilt isn't the most appealing game on paper most years, but that isn't the case this season. They have a great story to tell as Georgia looks for revenge, and as mentioned it could be a game against two undefeated teams. The SEC doesn't have a great slate of games next week, so it's a bit strange they didn't give Georgia their first home night game of the season with everything that could be on the line.
As long as Georgia beats Vanderbilt then nothing else truly matters, but it does feel like a bit of a miss by the SEC to not make this a night game.
