Georgia football has a lot of questions they need to answer before the regular season begins in the fall. Many of those questions will be answered this spring, but some will last throughout the entire offseason and into fall camp as well.

One of those questions that will last until fall is who the starting quarterback will be this season.

The obvious frontrunner right now is Gunner Stockton, and it’s easy to see why because he was the backup to Carson Beck last season and the player to replace him after he was injured in the SEC Championship game. But even though he is the most likely option, it isn’t a guarantee that he will be named the starter.

Redshirt freshman Ryan Puglisi is someone who will challenge Stockton for the starting job as everyone inside the program has sang his praises for over a year now. Georgia fans haven’t had a chance to see him much at all, but media members and people on Georgia’s staff continue to share how impressive he has been.

So while these two will surely be battling for the starting job this offseason, something happened at Georgia’s Pro Day on Wednesday that shows us that Stockton is the clear leader in this competition.

Gunner Stockton throws at Georgia’s Pro Day

Goegia held their annual Pro Day on Wednesday, and obviously there was a need for a quarterback to throw to UGA’s wide receivers and running backs during the event. And according to the post above from DawgsHQ, the players selected Stockton to be that guy.

Now obviously the final decision on who the starter will be is up to Kirby Smart and his staff, but this is a big sign that the players think Stockton is the right guy for the job.

It will be interesting to see how this competition plays out, so stay tuned as it will be something talked about all offseason. But for now, Georgia fans can enjoy watching Stockton’s highlights from Pro Day, because he was spinning the ball extremely well all day.
