One of the top in-state targets is ready to announce their commitment. Four-star offensive tackle Joshua Sam-Epelle is the No. 8 player from state of Georgia and the No. 112 overall player in the country. He is someone that Georgia has been aggressively targeting, and Sam-Epelle has reciprocated that interest by officially visiting Athens on June 5.
On Wednesday Sam-Epelle shared that he will announce his commitment on June 19. He also shared that his three finalists are Georgia, Georgia Tech and Tennessee.

Unfortunately this recruitment doesn't seem to be going Georgia's way as there are three official predictions in Georgia Tech's favor to win his recruitment.
Joshua Sam-Epelle is trending to Georgia's in-state rival
Sam-Epelle officially visited Georgia Tech back in early April. The fact that he took that visit and didn't commit right after made it seem like the Yellow Jackets didn't stand a chance. But it turns out that isn't the case at all.
On June 14 the Yellow Jackets received three predictions from 247Sports experts to win this recruitment. At the time this wasn't the end of the world because he didn't have a commitment date set yet, but with his commitment coming so soon now Georgia might be out of luck.
Theoretically Georgia still has time to come back and win this recruitment, but at this point no one should be counting on that.
Joshua Sam-Epelle’s recruitment could be the biggest indictment on Georgia’s recruiting class
Georgia fans have been growing increasingly frustrated with the Bulldogs' 2027 recruiting class. There are a decent amount of really good players committed, but their class is still ranked outside the top 10 which isn't good enough for a program with Georgia's expectations.
Georgia has been on quite the heater throughout the month of June though. Their biggest win over the past few weeks took place when top 100 offensive tackle Kennedee Jackson flipped from Florida to Georgia.
But all the momentum Georgia had will quickly go away if Sam-Epelle does commit to Georgia Tech over UGA.
Georgia Tech is not a program Georgia should be losing recruits to. If Kirby Smart locks in on someone, especially someone in the state, there is no excuse for letting Georgia Tech beat them. Unfortunately that is where Sam-Epelle's recruitment is trending, and there might not be anything Georgia can do about it.
Any one loss on the recruiting trail isn't the end of the world for Georgia, and that is still the case here, but losing an elite recruit like Sam-Epelle to Georgia Tech of all schools is a good enough reason to be slightly concerned going forward.
