Everyone is excited for Georgia football's game this weekend against No. 7 Tennessee. It is the only marquee matchup in all of college football this weekend, and with that comes a lot of eyeballs and attention. This includes ESPN's College GameDay who will be in Athens on Saturday for this SEC showdown.
With this being the biggest game of the weekend in college football, it is no surprise to see all of the national reporters and media breaking the game down and making their predictions. And that is exactly what Fox Sport's Joel Klatt did earlier this week.
So let's take a look and see what Klatt and had to say about this game and who he is predicting to win.
Joel Klatt breaks the game down
“Georgia’s playing for their life for all intents and purposes," Klatt said via ugawire.usatoday.com. "Georgia probably cannot get in with another loss, and by probably, I mean, like almost 100% cannot get in with another loss. There would have to be a ton of chaos for a nine and three team to make this playoff."
“Kirby (Smart) always gets his team ready when they’ve got this us against the world mentality. When they feel doubted, when they feel like their back is against the wall. Georgia is going to play better.”
All of these points made by Klatt are 100 percent accurate. Georgia's backs have never been more against the wall then they are right now. A loss means that Georgia's season is a complete failure as they will likely be left out of the College Football Playoff this season. This would also be the first time since 2018 that Georgia has lost three games in the same season.
All of that sounds very scary, but the final point Klatt made makes this game on Saturday a little less intimidating. Klatt discussed how Smart always has Georgia ready to play when they are doubted. There is no greater example of this then when the traveled to Texas and left Austin with a dominant 30-15 win.
This time however, Georgia is the favorite against the Vols. But still, Georgia was disrespected by the CFP committee on Tuesday and many are stating that Georgia is nowhere near good enough to make it into the playoffs this season.
But like Klatt mentioned, this is when Georgia is at their best. And his prediction for Saturday's game backs that up as well.
