A social media account went absolutely viral during the World Cup this summer, and Georgia athletic director Josh Brooks is trying to bring him to Athens for a football game this fall.
If you spent any amount of time on X during the World Cup then you probably recognize the name Freddy. He is a new social media superstar from Germany who was in the US throughout the World Cup documenting his experiences seeing the country with a few of his friends. Every single social media post of his earned over 1 million views and he gained thousands of followers each day.
Freddy has returned to Germany now that the World Cup is over. He however announced that he is planning another trip to the US this fall to see more of the country with the goal of college football games being the main focus of his trip.
Earlier this week Freddy took to social media asking for suggestions on where he should visit, and Brooks is trying to connect with him to get him in Athens for a Georgia football game this fall.

Josh Brooks pitched the biggest social media star to come tour Georgia
Freddy spending a weekend in Athens would be huge for Georgia. As mentioned, every single one of his social media posts generated over a million views throughout the World Cup, and if he was visiting Athens all of that attention would be on Georgia.
That is exactly what Georgia needs.
Social media exposure means everything nowadays. With every passing day the younger generations are taking to social media more and more, and all of those young people saw Freddy's content this summer and maybe even follow him now.
A lot of these people probably don't know a whole lot about Georgia and maybe haven't watched them play football before, but Freddy could change that. Freddy would introduce Georgia to people around the world, and that exposure in this era of college football is priceless.
Georgia would be a great place for him to visit on his tour simply because they have been the No. 1 football program in the country the last few years. No one has won more championships than them over the last five years and they are predicted to win the SEC again this year and contend for a National Championship as well.
On top of that, Georgia has a few big home games this fall which includes a top 10 showdown against Oklahoma, a chance for revenge against Jared Curtis and Vanderbilt during homecoming, and their rivalry matchup against Auburn. Those would all be great games for Freddy to witness between the hedges.
It's clear that Freddy has plenty of great weekends to choose from to come witness the greatest sport in this country played at one of the best cathedrals the sport has to offer. This decision is a no-brainer, so hopefully Brooks can make it happen.
