Gerogia football has seemingly turned a corner after their frustrating loss to Alabama, which was already about a month ago at this point. The Bulldogs are riding a three-game win streak and are coming off the best win in college football this season after taking down No. 1 Texas on the road 30-15.

But how was Georgia able to make such a quick turnaround?

It has all started with their defense, and their win over Texas is the perfect example. Georgia’s offense was struggling to get started, and while the offense was figuring things out the defense was playing lights out. They set UGA’s offense up with great field position multiple times, and because of that Georgia’s offense was able to get hot which led to a 23-0 halftime lead.

Having an elite defense is a requirement to find success in the SEC, but unfortunately for Georgia that is exactly what they are staring at in two of their upcoming SEC showdowns.

Georgia will face two of the top three scoring defenses

After Georgia’s game against Florida this Saturday, the Bulldogs will face two of the top three scoring defenses in the country. This includes Ole Miss who has the best scoring defense in the country, only giving up 11 points per game, and Tennessee who is sitting at No. 3 at 11.6 points per game.

This statistic is very scary.

There’s no secret that Georgia’s offense has been struggling recently. Carson Beck has been inconsistent and Georgia’s receivers have been dropping a lot of passes recently. These issues have caused Georgia’s offense to be very inconsistent most of this season.

And those inconsistencies have come against teams that aren’t as good as Ole Miss or Tennessee.

These two upcoming games are must wins for Georgia if they want to win an SEC Championship and feel good about making it into the College Football Playoffs. But seeing how great both defenses are and knowing the issues Georgia’s offense is working through, my confidence in these games has dropped a little.

Georgia should still be the favorite in both of these games, but Kirby Smart’s offense is going to have to be much improved if they want to come away with two wins to end their SEC campaign.
