Kirby Smart has done it again on the recruiting trail, and at this point, it doesn't feel like anything could go any better for the Bulldogs right now. Smart landed yet another commitment late this evening from 4-star defensive lineman Preston Carey.
Georgia showed their dominance yet again in the state of Florida, with Carey choosing the Bulldogs over the Florida Gators, Rutgers Scarlett Knights, and Auburn Tigers. The Bradenton, Florida native, coming in a 6-foot-4 and 300 pounds, is a huge addition to an already stacked recruiting class at Georgia for 2026.
Carey is the third recruit to commit to the Bulldogs today and the second in the Class of 2026. Smart already landed PJ Dean, beating out SC rival South Carolina for the defensive lineman, and also earned a commitment for the Class of 2027 from 4-star cornerback Donte Wright. Smart is truly showing that he is an elite recruiter for the Bulldogs and is not just working on the future for 2026, but also showing commitment to the Class of 2027 as well.

Kirby Smart is on fire on the recruiting trail, and nothing can stop him
If there is one thing that Kirby Smart has shown in this recruiting cycle, it is that he is an elite recruiter committed to bringing Georgia back to its National Championship-winning ways. After winning the championship in back-to-back seasons in 2021 and 2022, Georgia failed to make the playoffs in 2023 and was a part of the first-ever 12-team playoff, but after receiving a first-round bye, they were an early exit at the hands of Notre Dame.
With no National Championship appearances in the last two seasons, the Bulldogs are ready to return to their winning ways, and Smart is ensuring that through his recruiting. The hot streak started with the commitment of their only 5-star recruit with quarterback Jared Curtis, who has become like an extra recruiter for the Bulldogs, getting prospects in the door.
Now with 26 recruits for the 2026 class, Smart may look like he is slowing down, but he is doing the opposite. With three recruits today alone, when he cycle is supposed to be slowing down heading into the month of July, Smart is showing he has no intention of slowing down until there are no recruits left.
