Georgia is quickly building one of the strongest 2027 recruiting classes in the country, that recrutiitng class however is missing a quarterback. It took some time for Kirby Smart and his staff to find some quarterbacks they were interested in, but once they did they made sure to aggressively pursue them.

Up until the last few weeks they were yet to make a lot of progress with any of their QB targets, but one visit from four-star Peter Bourque changed everything.

4-star Peter Bourque is growing closer to Kirby Smart, Georgia

Bourque is a top 100 player in the country who recently decommitted from Michigan. Georgia appears to be a big reason why he decommitted from the Wolverines because ever since he made that decision he has shown the Bulldogs a lot of love. A few other schools like Penn State and Virginia Tech have also been making moves with Bourque, but it is Georgia who appears to be the leader right now.

Rivals' Josh Newberg put it bluntly in the above post that he believes Georgia is the team with the most momentum right now.

This really shouldn't be all that surprising because Bourque has taken one visit since the February recruiting dead period ended. That visit occurred at Georgia in the beginning of March, and it's that visit that has made Georgia the leader in his recruitment.

At this point Bourque has not decided when he plans to announce his final commitment. There is a great chance he extends his recruitment into the summer so he can continue making more visits to Georgia and to a few other schools, but at this point it is clear that Georgia is the team to beat which is the exact position they want to be in.

Smart and his staff can't let up yet, but there is a sense of relief that will come from a report like this as they look to finish on top in this pivotal recruitment.
