It’s safe to say that Kirby Smart is pretty excited.

Georgia struck gold on Monday as five-star running back Kemon Spell announced his commitment to Georgia seemingly out of nowhere. This news was huge for a lot of reasons, but the best reason of all was how unexpected it was.

Spell was in Athens on a visit this past weekend, but entering that visit Georgia was viewed as a distant second in his recruitment. So everyone thought Georgia still had a lot of work to do in this recruitment, and that likely even includes Kirby Smart. But after what was apparently a great visit, Spell decided to end his recruitment and commit to Georgia.

And his future head coach couldn’t hold back his excitement.

Spell is the No. 1 ranked running back in the 2027 recruiting class. He also is the No. 7 overall player in the country as well. So it is very easy to see why Smart and all of Georgia were over the moon when he made his commitment to UGA official.

But there is another reason why Smart (and Georgia’s fanbase) should be even more excited.

By now everyone knows that Georgia has earned a commitment from quarterback Jayden Wade. He is just as good of a recruit as Spell if not better as he is the No. 1 overall recruit in the 2028 recruiting class. So the thought of these two being paired together in Georgia’s backfield in just a few years is almost too good to believe.

And speaking of Wade, he had an amazing reaction to Spell’s commitment on Monday as well.

Georgia’s future will always be bright, but Spell’s commitment should take that excitement to another level. The Bulldogs are the top program in the country right now, and that isn’t changing anytime soon.
