Georgia's season begins in less than two months. That means at this point Georgia knows what their roster looks like and who their opponents will be, so all that's left for them to do is continue preparing for the season ahead.

Kirby Smart however has his eyes on the future as he just announced that both Georgia coordinators, Mike Bobo and Glenn Schumann, have signed new contracts that will keep them in Athens through the 2028 season.

Kirby Smart leaves no doubt that he believes in Mike Bobo and Glenn Schumann

Georgia fans have made their thoughts on both Bobo and Schumann very clear over the years. A majority of the fanbase is not happy with the job either have been doing the last few years, but Smart just showed that he doesn't agree.

Smart extending both of their contracts through the 2028 season shows that he has the utmost faith in both coordinators to lead their units for the foreseeable future. Georgia is a program that many of the top coordinators across the country would love to coach at, but Smart believes Bobo and Schumann are better than them all.

That may be a concerning thing to see for the fans who aren't too fond of Bobo and Schumann, but Smart made it abundantly clear that he believes they can both help bring another National Championship back to Georgia.

Did Kirby Smart make a mistake by extending Mike Bobo and Glenn Schumann?

Only time will tell if this is the right decision by Smart, but based on recent history there's a strong case for why this was this obvious thing for Smart to do.

Georgia has cemented themselves as the No. 1 program in the SEC the last few years. They've won the conference the last two years and they are one of the betting favorites to win the SEC again this season. So as long as Georgia continues winning the SEC, why should Smart let them go?

The reason why some will argue that he shouldn't extend them is because Georgia's goals are much higher than just winning the SEC. Their expectations are to win National Championships, and they haven't come close to that the last three years.

After winning their second consecutive national title four years ago Georgia hasn't been able to win a single playoff game since. This includes getting blasted by Notre Dame and Ole Miss in their one and only playoff game the last two seasons and missing the playoff altogether three years ago.

Sure it is nice to win the SEC, no one will deny that, but at Georgia more is expected. If Georgia had come close to winning a national title at some point in the last three years this would be a completely different conversation, but that hasn't been the case. So as long as Georgia's struggles in the College Football Playoff continue fans will keep questioning if Bobo and Schumann are right for the job.

At the end of the day though the only thing that truly matters is what Smart thinks, and he is 100 percent locked in with both Bobo and Schumann for the next three years.
