Georgia football was able to hold on and defeat Florida on Saturday night 34-20. And while that will always be the thing that matters most, there are still a lot of negative takeawys coming from this game.

Carson Beck struggled again at times and the Georgia defense didn't look that great against DJ Lagway. But one of the biggest concerns coming off of this game is running back Trevor Etienne.

Etienne suffered an injury during the first half that prevented him from seeing action in the second half. Thankfully Nate Frazier was able to step up in his place, but this injury from Etienne is very concerning especially when you think about what it could mean if he missed time the rest of this season.

Kirby Smart provided an update on Etienne after the game, and thankfully it sounds like it isn't anything serious.

"I think it really hurt him that he couldn't continue," Smart said via 247Sports.com. "He was dealing with a rib injury a little bit, and he's fine. He just had some pain in there."

Trevor Etienne is "fine" after rib injury

According to Smart, Etienne is "fine" after suffering a rib injury against Florida on Saturday. Even though this injury kept him out in the second half, it sounds like this won't be a major concern going forward for the star running back.

However, this injury may be a little more serious than Smart is suggesting. Everyone knows the history between Etienne and Florida. While there is no bad blood between the two, Etienne was very motivated and excited to play against his former team. So it seems unlikely that a minor injury would keep him off the field in a game like this.

This decision however likely was not Etienne's to make. Smart and his training staff likely opted to keep him out as a precaution, which Etienne surely argued against. Thankfully Frazier stepped up in his absence, but it was unfortunate to not see Etienne play a bigger role in a game that clearly meant so much to him.

Up next for Georgia is a high-powered Ole Miss team that just put up 63 points against Arkansas on Saturday. Hopefully Etienne is back next week, because Georgia is going to need their offense to be firing on all cylinders for this game.
