Kirby Smart is still on the prowl looking for his quarterback commit in the 2027 recruiting class. The hope was the Elijah Haven (who is the No. 1 QB in the class) would be that player, but all signs are now pointing towards him heading to an SEC rival instead.

Haven's commitment is scheduled for the end of April, so Smart and Georgia still have time to make up some ground in his recruitment. But at this point it is feeling impossible to pull off that come from behind victory. So now Smart has to start preparing for who his next target is, and he has already added four-star Dane Weber as his next priority QB recruit.

4-star Dane Weber gives Georgia, Kirby Smart new hope of landing an elite QB

Weber is a new name for Georgia fans to learn, but he is someone they are going to want to get to know fast. He is a four-star quarterback from California who is the No. 407 overall player in the country. He also is the No. 27 overall QB in the country and the No. 36 player from his home state as well.

Rivals provided a positive update for Georgia in his recruitment earlier this week as they named Georgia a "major contender." On top of that, Weber also said that he plans to make a visit to Athens soon as well.

If Smart is going to win this recruitment he is going to need to make up some ground against some other schools. Programs like Michigan, Cincinatti, Kansas, UCLA and Cal are the teams at the top of Weber's recruitment right now, but he is willing to give Georgia a chance to move into that group.

Georgia's future at quarterback is secure thanks to their commitment from five-star Jayden Wade. But he is a member of the 2028 recruiting class, so he doesn't solve Georgia's problem in the 2027 class. But if Smart can land a player like Weber then that would make Georgia's future even more secure going forward.
