Kirby Smart’s most important recruiting target could make or break Georgia’s 2027 class

One of Georgia's current commits is the most important player for their 2027 recruiting class.

Georgia's 2027 recruiting class is not where anyone wants it to be. The Bulldogs only have the No. 28 class in the country, but they do have the groundwork laid to climb back up the recruiting rankings fast once they start earning more commits.

But the most important recruit for Georgia that can either make or break their recruiting class is five-star running back Kemon Spell who committed to Georgia back in early February.

Georgia can't afford another major recruiting blow

One of the reasons why Georgia has been so good for so long is because they sign one of the top recruiting classes every year. In order to accomplish that again this year they need to win more recruitments from some more top ranked recruits.

Kirby Smart however has already done that with Spell who is the No. 6 overall player in the country, so the reason he is Georgia's most important recruit is because they can't afford to lose him.

Georgia already lost one five-star commit a few weeks ago when Donte Wright flipped to Miami. That was a brutal loss, but one that Georgia is able to withstand. Losing a second recruit at that level though would be much more difficult to overcome.

If Georgia keeps Spell in their recruiting class they will have a chance to once again sign one of the top recruiting classes. If they lose him though then signing a top class will be next to impossible.

The good news is that Spell has said countless times that he wants to be a Bulldog no matter what, so Georgia may not have to worry that much about losing him. Now they can use him to benefit their recruiting class even more by asking him to help recruit more players to Georgia.

Kemon Spell can help attract more recruits to Georgia

The best recruits in the country typically want to play with other top recruits. That is where Smart can really use Spell because he can help attract more recruits to Georgia based solely on the fact that he is the No. 1 running back in the country.

Spell is in Athens this weekend on an unofficial visit and is likely helping Smart recruit other players. This likely includes Jamir Dean who is currently committed to Penn State who is at Georgia on an official visit this weekend.

Spell will return to Georgia next weekend on his official visit where he once again will help Smart recruit the other players visiting Athens as well.

There are so many other recruits that are really important to Georgia, but Spell by far is the most important player that Smart not only needs to keep in his recruiting class but to use to his advantage to attract more talent.
