Kirby Smart said he's "hopeful" an injured RB will return this weekend
Georgia football has been able to survive in recent weeks even with all the injuries they have been dealing with. And the biggest concern by far has been the running back room, which has been down three talented players for a few weeks now.
Roderick Robinson made his return during Georgia's win against Georgia Tech in a limited role, but his addition was huge so freshman Nate Frazier wasn't by himself in the backfield any longer. But Kirby Smart just shared that another running back is "hopeful" to be back this weekend against Texas.
Branson Robinson expected to return for the SEC Championship game
Branson Robinson has been out for Georgia since their win over Mississippi State back in mid-October. Before getting injured, he was a solid backup option for the Bulldogs as he accumulated 25 carries for 73 yards and three touchdowns so far this season. He also was active in the passing game, hauling in six receptions for an additional 33 yards.
Anthony Dasher with Rivals however is reporting that Smart has shared that the expectation is that Robinson will return for Georgia during the SEC Championship game against Texas. And this timeline would make a lot of sense because he was listed as questionable ahead of Georgia's win over Georgia Tech this past weekend.
Georgia now could be going from one option in Frazier to three with the additions of both Roderick and Branson Robinson. This depth is critical as each player is more than capable of dominating a game at any point while also providing security in case anyone happens to get injured again.
So hopefully these additions to the running back room will be what Georgia's offense needs to take their game to the next level and knock off a Texas team who is favored in the SEC Championship game this weekend.
