Georgia has cruised to two easy victories to start the season, and all signs point to that being the case this week against Arkansas. This is the Bulldogs' first road game of the season, but they are still favored by over three touchdowns.
Georgia more than likely won't win this game by 50 or 60 points like they did their first two games of the season, but they should be able to win with relative ease. Don't tell Kirby Smart that though because he is making it clear that they can't overlook Arkansas. In fact, he sent a warning to Georgia about how dangerous this game could be.
"We're onto Arkansas. Playing on the road in the SEC, humility is always a week away," Smart said via 247sports.com. "It's a tough environment regardless of where you play in the SEC. There are no bad environments in the SEC. There are only raucous environments in the SEC. They're really tough to play in. Tougher earlier in the year than later, and as they go along, they get harder and harder. This is a challenge anytime you go on the road, especially with a group you haven't been on the road with yet."
Kirby Smart won't overlook anyone, even after 50 straight wins over unranked teams
Georgia's win over Western Kentucky marked the 50th win in a row over an unranked opponent. That is a remarkable stat considering how often upsets occur in college football, but this speaks to just how good Georgia has been the last five years.
Kirby Smart still isn't willing to overlook any opponent even after all of these wins though. Arkansas will be a step up in competition for Georgia compared to their first two games, but they could be the easiest game left on their schedule. That doesn't mean they will be an easy team to beat, and Kirby Smart knows this.
You never really know what you're going to get from any college football team during their first road game in a season. Even a team who is as good as Georgia is on paper could struggle, so anything is possible when a team doesn't have their home fans behind them all game long for the first time.
Kirby Smart knows this better than anyone else, so that is why he is warning his team and the fans what could happen this weekend if they don't show up ready to play.
Kickoff between Arkansas and Georgia is set for 12:00 pm EST on Saturday. This is an 11:00 am local game time in Arkansas which does benefit Georgia, but none of that matters all that much once the game begins. Arkansas is looking for their first marquee victory under new head coach Ryan Silverfield, and what better way to start his tenure than by beating the two-time defending SEC Champion Georgia Bulldogs in front of a home crowd.
