Kirby Smart is still in search of a quarterback commit in the 2027 recruiting class. Georgia has been linked to a handful of players over the past few months, but so far they haven't been able to convince any of them to commit to Georgia.

This has left Smart no choice but to get creative in his search for a new quarterback, and his next target is one that will excite every Georgia fan.

Derrick Baker may just be a three-star quarterback, but he is from the state of Georgia. Everyone loves a quarterback from the Peach State, so seeing Smart offer him a scholarship this week was awesome to see. But this scholarship offer in particular is even more exciting because Baker is currently committed to Tennessee, so Smart has officially put the Vols on notice.

Baker isn't the highest ranked recruit in the country. He is only the No. 718 overall player in the country as well as the No. 40 quarterback in the 2027 class. But if Smart wants him then who cares where he is ranked.

The fact he is committed to Tennessee already, which occurred on February 11, shows that he may be due for a ranking increase. He also has scholarship offers from Miami, Ohio State, Indiana, Florida State and Ole Miss which again shows that he should probably be ranked higher than he is.

Georgia has a few other QBs they are after in the 2027 class. The most notable is four-star Peter Bourque who has been trending more towards Georgia as of this week.

But Baker may be the most likely player Georgia could add because he is a local kid. And if Smart is able to convince him to flip to Georgia that will be just another reason for fans to make fun of Tennessee, and that is never a bad thing.
