Gunner Stockton had one of the best games of his life during Georgia’s 35-10 victory over Texas on Saturday. Stockton completed 24 of 29 passes for 229 yards and four touchdowns to go along with a fifth touchdown on the ground as well.
This performance on its own was extremely impressive, but the fact Stockton did it on this big of a stage was nothing short of spectacular. His play was so good that Kirk Herbstreit was even discussing on live TV how he believes Stockton should be in the Heisman Trophy race.

Kirk Herbstreit believes Gunner Stockton is a Heisman candidate
This college football season is a bit different than normal because there aren’t any players running away in the Heisman Trophy race. Usually by now there are at least one or two players who have really separated themselves from the pack, but that isn’t the case this season.
This has allowed Stockton to sneak his way into the conversation to the point where he should at the very least be invited to the ceremony at the end of the season.
There are still a few players who have a much better chance at winning the award compared to Srockton. Indiana’s Fernando Mendoza and Ohio State’s Julian Sayin are two names that stand out the most, but after them Stockton is right there.
If Stockton is going to win the Heisman Georgia is likely going to have to win the SEC. Stockton will also need to have another dominant performance in the SEC Championship game with another big game against Georgia Tech the week before as well. The bad news is Georgia has not clinched their place in the title game just yet, but if they do then Srockton will have a chance to prove he deserves to win the Heisman this season.
