Lane Kiffin owes Georgia an apology after his criminal complaint over SEC game times

The data proves how spoiled LSU is compared to Georgia when it comes to receiving home night games.

Georgia's upcoming matchup against Ole Miss was given a night slot next week. These two teams got one of the two night slots for next week's games as they will kickoff at 7:30 pm EST. LSU and Alabama however will kickoff at 3:30 pm EST that same day, and this made Lane Kiffin furious.

He believed that their game should be played at night because they are a true rivalry that consists of two great teams this year, but the SEC didn't seem to care about that. Kiffin made his feelings about this game time known, but when looking at the data he doesn't have anything to stand on when it comes to getting home night games.

LSU has played 16 of its 19 home games at night since the start of the SEC's new TV deal in 2024. That is the most by far as Auburn, Texas A&M and Kentucky have the second most home night games since 2024 with 10. Georgia on the other hand has only had four which is tied for the least amount in the SEC with Mississippi State and Arkansas.

Georgia deserves more love from the SEC

It is shocking that Georgia has only had four home night games since the start of the 2024 season. These night games are typically reserved for the best teams and best matchups since it creates the best atmospheres for TV networks to broadcast, but even though Georgia won the SEC in 2024 and 2025 and are the favorite to do so this season they still aren't getting home night games.

LSU on the other hand has basically only played at night. Out of their 19 home games since the start of 2024 only three haven't been played at night. Sure it is still a bit strange that their game against Alabama isn't at night, but Kiffin has no ground to stand on after seeing this data.

Instead it should be Georgia who should be complaining because they are the No. 1 program in the SEC by far but the conference is treating them like a bottom feeder when it comes to getting home night games.

The SEC is punishing Georgia as the road team as well

Night games significantly favor home teams over their opponent. The atmosphere in a stadium gets taken to a new level when you play under the lights, so getting a home night game does make a team slightly more likely to win. That's why it is so frustrating that Georgia has played such few home night games over the past three seasons.

This news gets even worse for Georgia because they have been the road team in six night games since the start of the 2024 season. That number will grow to seven next week when they play at Ole Miss.

This means that they are having to play in extremely difficult environments far more often than they get to experience that environment at home, and that doesn't seem fair.

Georgia only has two more opportunities for a home night game this season. So far they haven't had one this year, but their home games against Missouri and Georgia Tech present their final chance to have at least one home night game this season. Hopefully the SEC does the right thing and gives them at least one night game.
