Anyone who follows college football recruiting even a little knows who Jared Curtis is. Curtis is the No. 1 QB in the country and the No. 2 overall player according to the 247Sports composite rankings, so his recruitment quite literally will impact the entire landscape of college football, especially in the 2026 class.
Curtis has narrowed his recruitment down to Georgia and Oregon, and he is fresh off long unofficial visits to both schools in the last week. So now that these visits are complete, where does Georgia stand?
Jeff Sentell with Dawg Nation shared some intimate details about how his visits went and where Georgia stands, but one point in particular is very good news for Kirby Smart and the Bulldogs.
"The highest bid is not necessary to win the chase for Curtis," Sentell shared via dawgnation.com.
NIL will not decide Curtis’s recruitment
According to Sentell, Curtis’s recruitment will not come down to which school offers the most NIL money. This is a great sign for Georgia because even though they have one of the strongest NIL programs in the country, they don’t really compare to Oregon. So if the Bulldogs ever do get in a bidding war with the Ducks, it likely won’t go well for them.
Thankfully that isn’t the case, so Georgia has a very good chance at winning this recruitment. In fact, On3 recently named Georgia the new leader in Curtis’s recruitment. To be fair, Georgia’s lead according to On3 is very small, but as of now the recruiting site does like Georgia’s chances.
The last thing Sentell shared was that he expects Curtis to announce a commitment by the end of April. Curtis himself hasn’t shared a timeline for a commitment yet, but if Sentell is right then an announcement could happen within the next month.
