Miami (FL) and their head coach Mario Cristobal are really becoming an annoyance for Georgia in the recruiting trail. Not only did the Hurricanes steal Carson Beck from UGA, but they also flipped one of Georgia’s top high school commits a few weeks ago as well.
Miami is one of the teams Georgia finds themselves up against in a lot of recruitments. This has some to do with the proximity between the two schools, but both schools love to go after the top recruits in the country as well.
To no one’s surprise, that is happening once again, this time with the No. 1 recruit in the country. That player is offensive tackle Jackson Cantwell, and a recent statement from Cantwell shows that Miami is doing everything they can to beat Georgia in this recruitment.

Georgia has an easy response to Miami’s recruiting pitch
While Miami is definitely one of Georgia’s biggest competitors when it comes to landing Cantwell, there are a lot of things in Georgia’s favor that should help them feel confident.
The biggest reason is because five-star quarterback Jared Curtis, who just committed to Georgia on Monday, has stated he will do everything he can to help recruit Cantwell. In fact, Curtis will be in Athens this weekend so he can meet Cantwell in person while he is visiting Georgia.
Speaking of that visit this weekend, that is another reason why Georgia fans should be hopeful. Cantwell is visiting Athens May 10, which is just a few days before his scheduled commitment day of May 13. This commitment date was pushed back two weeks so Cantwell could make this visit, so that fact is why On3’s Steve Wiltfong predicted Georgia to land Cantwell.
Even after all of that though, Miami still has a crystal ball prediction in their favor on 247Sports. This prediction is more outdated however, so it may not mean much anymore, but this prediction shows that the Hurricanes are a serious contender when it comes to Cantwell’s recruitment.
