Nate Frazier, David Stone's injury status remains uncertain despite what's been said

Georgia's offense vs Oklahoma's defense is one of the biggest matchups to follow when these teams meet on Saturday, but the first official injury report indicates that both teams could be missing a star player for this game.

Nate Frazier is one of the best offensive players on a Georgia team that has the No. 1 scoring offense in the country. On the other side of the ball there is Oklahoma defensive lineman David Stone who is one of the Sooners top defenders on a unit who is No. 12 in scoring defense so far this season. These two players will have a massive impact on the outcome of this game, but on Wednesday they were both tabbed questionable to play on the official injury report.

Nate Frazier and David Stone could both miss their Week 4 showdown

Frazier suffered an injury during the second half of Georgia's win over Arkansas last week. The injury itself didn't look all that bad, but he limped off the field and went back to the locker room a few moments later. He did not return to the game, but this ended up being by design as Kirby Smart shared after the game that he could've kept playing if they needed him.

Smart also shared during his press conference on Monday that he expects him to be able to play this weekend against the Sooners. Frazier however is questionable to play as of Wednesday's injury report which indicates less confidence in his health than what Smart said at the start of this week.

Then there is Oklahoma's David Stone who suffered a knee injury during practice on Monday. This injury was rumored to be bad, but the fact that he is questionable for Saturday's game increases the confidence in his ability to play compared to what people originally thought.

Georgia and Oklahoma fans will find out on Saturday if either player will suit up, but if both teams want the best chance possible to win this game they will need their star player in the lineup.

What's at stake for Georgia and Oklahoma on Saturday?

Georgia is 3-0 entering this game and the No. 2 team in the country. The Bulldogs still control their own destiny in the SEC as they look to win the conference for a third year in a row, and a win against the Sooners would keep them in that position.

Georgia also could be one week away from being the No. 1 team in the country. If Georgia beats Oklahoma and No. 1 Texas loses at No. 14 Tennessee then the Bulldogs would be the most likely team to take over the top spot in the AP Poll next week. Georgia also has a 51-game unbeaten streak against unranked opponents that would be snapped if they lose this game.

Oklahoma isn't in as good of a spot as Georgia. They are 2-1 after a week two loss to Michigan and narrow win over New Mexico last week. Their eight point win over New Mexico was the final straw for the AP Poll who dropped them out of the top 25 heading into this week.

A loss for Oklahoma wouldn't quite end their season, but it would put it on life support. Oklahoma could still make the College Football Playoff with two losses and the SEC Championship game with one conference loss, but if they were to suffer one more loss this season their season would effectively be over. A win would send them back in the top 25 though and give them a lot of momentum heading into their bye week with a rivalry game against Texas looming in two weeks.

A lot is on the line for both teams on Saturday. Oklahoma may be more desperate but Georgia doesn't want to let go of the tight grip they've had on the SEC for the last two years. The Bulldogs are favored by two touchdowns in this game, but anything is possible when these storied programs take the field on Saturday.
