Gunner Stockton just had the best performance of his career Saturday against Ole Miss. Stockton helped orchestrate an offense that couldn't be stopped en route to Georgia's 43-35 victory.
Stockton finished the night completing 26 of 31 passes for 289 yards and a whopping four touchdowns. He also ran the ball for 59 yards and one more touchdown as well.
This performance is impressive on its own without having to factor anything else in, but Kirby Smart revealed after the game that Stockton had to play through a significant injury.
Gunner Stockton didn’t practice on Monday or Tuesday because of an oblique injury.

Went out and completed 83% of his passes for 289 YDS (9.3 YPA) and ran it 10 times for 59 YDS while accounting for 5 TD’s on a day where the staff didn’t want to run him.
Rabun. County.
Kirby Smart reveals new Gunner Stockton injury
Immediately after Georgia's win over Ole Miss Smart shared that Stockton has been dealing with an oblique injury. This injury apparently was bad enough that it forced Stockton to miss practice on Monday and Tuesday earlier this week.
Stockton's performance on Saturday was already impressive enough, but the fact that he was able to have the best game of his career while injured makes it even better. This also shows just how tough of a player he is and why his teammates respect him so much.
Georgia now enters their second bye week of the season which has come at the perfect time for Stockton. Stockton now has two weeks before he has to take the field again which gives him plenty of time to rest up and get healthy before Georgia's final five games of the season.
It's extremely important for Stockton to get back to 100 percent health because Georgia still has everything to play for this season. Georgia can't afford to lose another SEC game this year, so in order to be in the best position possible to run the table they need Stockton at his best. But if these are the types of performances Stockton is capable of while injured then maybe it doesn't matter if he gets fully healthy or not.
